Lee Ann
Bruce was one of the sweetest people .   I am so sad and sorry  I couldn't  get to the service.    Wish I could give you a big hug❤

Bruce and I were close friends for 55 years, but we had known each other since we were about five years old.  His dad, Mr. Bruce, was my dad’s boss at Kaiser. I thought Bruce was one of the more intelligent people I ever knew. But, most important, he was kind, generous and loving.  A true caretaker.  Bruce never had an enemy that I knew of. His family was his life but he was always willing to share his time with anyone who needed it, especially his friends. When I was sick and suffering through chemo treatments, as he would eventually do himself,  he would call or write daily, without fail. We never lost touch from the time we went our separate ways after high school. Over the last 4 years, we were in touch almost daily. He was always interested in what I was doing.  He listened well and was always someone who studied the subjects in which he was interested. He always knew how to get the most out of any situation. When I signed up for Medicare, I sought his advice. The best thing to ever happen to Bruce was finding Lee Ann. She was the love of his life and he enjoyed caring for her, Wes, Val and Luke. He carved out a great career with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois and became a great asset for the company in the area of group insurance. He could grill a mean steak and make a great pot of gumbo.  We had a lot of good times together. The stories are endless. We bought bicycles at the same time after we graduated from CHS, and would take long rides from Chalmette to the Lakefront and all through town. Sometimes we would go 25-30 miles. He once danced on the jukebox at Rocky’s. But, I will take the Fifth Amendment on some of our other high school escapades. He and Lee Ann came to our kid’s weddings and other family celebrations. Not being able to pick up the phone or share a text with Bruce will create a big void in my life. We are confident he is in a better place and free of pain. We love you Bruce and we will miss you for the rest of our lives.

Uncle Bruce was the best uncle a girl could ever ask for. He gave the best hugs. He had a huge heart and was always quick to help you in any way he could. He loved music, concerts and cooking. He was the best cook. His love for my aunt Lee Ann, Wesley, Valerie and Luke was unwavering. He was the best Uncle. I truly wished they could have saved you. It saddens me that they could not. You will always be in our hearts. You fought valiantly; right to the end. We love you... Kristin Lee Blair

Dear Lee Ann, my heart goes out to you and your family on Bruce’s passing. I grew up and went to school in Chalmette with him. We have never met. Bruce was a fine friend and always had something positive or funny to say. He often cheered me up. The world was a better place with him in it. My sincere condolences to you, your family, and Dudley. Brad Kuss.

May our Lord in heaven welcome Bruce into his loving arms.
