Margaret, native to Louisa, Virginia, was born on January 14, 1939 to the late George Linwood Shiflett and Dorothy Mae Williams Shiflett.
Margaret worked at State Farm Insurance out of high school and then at Stromburg Carson/Comdial till she retired. She enjoyed camping and she travelled through 48 states and took a cruise to Hawaii all with her husband, Richard. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and made sure they had everything they ever wanted. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and up until covid she continued to have lunch once a month with her school friends. She loved throwing get togethers to celebrate life. She was a huge UVa fan all her life and at one time went to all the home football and basketball games. She was one of the Ballard Bunch celebrating UVa wins, losses, and good friendships. When family came home, she always had green beans cooking on the stove.
Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Richard A. Shiflett; her daughter, Ivy L. Capar and her husband Allan P. Capar from Fairfax, VA, granddaughter Paulina M. Capar, Germantown, MD, and grandson Wesley A. Capar, Denver, CO, and many close friends and family.
We want to thank Monique and her nurse, Brittany, for becoming family and taking wonderful care of her. Thank you to the staff in the ER and 1st Floor at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital who took care of her till the end of her life. We will miss her sweet, loving nature and generous heart.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am – 12:30pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903.
