Lorraine Layne Williams

Heaven gained another angel today. Lorraine Layne Williams, 90, of Earlysville, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Junior Russell Williams, her father, Marvin Thomas Layne and her mother Mary Young Layne Reitelbach, her sisters Sadie Francis (Tommy) Reitelbach and Ida Pace. She is survived by her children, Dexter Williams (Michele) of Midlothian, VA, Donald Williams (Donna) of Hopewell, VA, David Williams (Vicki) of Boston, VA, Darlene Branch (Bryan) of Earlysville, VA, Durrette (D.E.) Williams (Daphne) of Ruckersville, VA and her granddaughter Kristi Williams (Jonathan) of Troy, VA. She was known as Nana to many family and friends. Surviving her are her beloved grandchildren Russ Williams, Alan Williams, Jason Williams, Nathan Williams, Adam Williams, Michael Sloat, Kaylee Williams and Suzi Williams; 13 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren along with numerous family and friends. She retired from Centel with 30 years of service. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Earlysville, VA. She was known as the “card lady” at church. If you knew our mother, you knew she loved her family and friends and would send cards to everyone for every event. Mom, we know you are at peace and with your one and only love, our Dad. Fly high until we meet again. The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 12:15pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Riverview Cemetery, 1701 Chesapeake St. Charlottesville, VA 22902. The family would like to express extreme gratitude to Lorraine's favorite caregivers, Dr. Andy McFarlane and Dr. Kurtis Elward. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
