Jason Elliot Pierce, 45, of Staunton, VA, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, after an extended illness resulting in heart failure. Jason’s greatest gift was his kind heart, and it was that very heart that failed him in the end.
Jason was born August 16, 1979, in Woodbury, NJ, to Beth Jackson Beal and the late Lewis C. Pierce.
After graduating high school, Jason joined the Navy as an electronics engineer, but he soon realized his calling was arboriculture. After returning from the Navy, Jason joined our family business, K. E. Beal Company Tree Services, in Free Union, VA, and began a lifelong career as an Arborist. Jason was a gifted arborist, and he was known throughout Central Virginia for his climbing skills and the beauty he could bestow on the trees he touched. He often commented what a gift it was to climb to the top of the tallest trees and take in the world below.
Jason is survived by his mother, Beth Jackson Beal, and his beloved stepfather, Kevin Earl Beal, who introduced him to his love of Arboriculture. He is also survived by his two children, Lyla and Tate Pierce; his brother, Alexander Scott Pierce (Sandra Squires); a nephew, Bear Orion Pierce; and two nieces, Sabrina and Emelia Bellante.
Jason is also survived by his “Person,” Suzanne Davis Lawson. Suzanne gave Jason the gift of living his last two years, knowing he was loved for who he was and without judgment or condition. The pure love Suzanne bestowed upon Jason allowed him to share that love with his family while we helped him navigate his final days. Jason died happy and knowing he was loved.
Jason’s heart was one with the Lord. The concept of redemption is a powerful testament to God’s boundless mercy and love.
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 am at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA. The family encourages and invites those closest to Jason who loved him and those from the Arboriculture Community who knew Jason to speak at his Celebration of Life.
Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.”
