Janet Breeden, 79, of Charlottesville, died peacefully at home on Thursday August 14, 2014 after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was preceded in death by Burnie Breeden, her husband of 37 years and survived by her five loving children, Terri McDaniel Lahaie and her husband Jacques of Atlanta, GA, Robert McDaniel and his wife Lynn Wayland McDaniel of Richmond, VA, Kathy McDaniel Gardner of Charlottesville, VA, Mike McDaniel and his wife Lori Coleman McDaniel of Troy, VA and Lisa McDaniel Carroll and her husband Larry of Schuyler, VA. Janet was born on May 25, 1935 in Elkton, VA and lived there throughout her early life. She settled in Charlottesville as a young mother and raised her family there. Her love of children and calm, patient manner led her to work as a teaching assistant in special education for over thirty years. She was respected as a caring, reliable and unflappable member of the classroom team. Janet considered her five children her greatest accomplishment and joy. She was a constant source of unconditional love and unwavering support to each of her children. A practical parent, she expected her children to try their hardest and accept the results. Above all, Janet demanded honesty. She taught by example respect for all people, kindness toward others, appreciation for what was important and generosity with all you had. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17 from 5-7pm at Teague Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the Teague Chapel on Monday, August 18 at 2:00pm, followed by a brief graveside service at Holly Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Mountainside Senior Living.
