Frances native to Charlottesville, Virginia was born on November 12, 1942 to the late William Ward and Mary Glass Ward.
In June 1961, Frances married the love of her life, Wendell Russell Allen. Together, they built their family in Earlysville, Jeffrey, Tamara, Tonya and Dana. She retired from the County of Albemarle as Driver Trainer after many years of dedicated service. Her most valued title was Granna as her family was her greatest joy. In addition to being their Granna, she loved hosting Sunday lunches, making delicious sweet tea and celebrating life’s milestones. Frances was a proud member of Free Union Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Glover.
Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 61 years, Wendell Russell Allen; her son, Wendell Jeffrey Allen and his wife Lesley of Charlottesville; her daughters, Tamara Shifflett and her husband Randy of Earlysville, Tonya Marshall and her husband Bryan of Earlysville, Dana Wright and her husband Dean of Earlysville. Her grandchildren, Mitchell (Shaela), Jordan (Heidi), Bryce (Kirstyn), Colleen, Kirsty, Drake (Cecilia), Matthew, Baylee, Ben and Barek; her great-grandchildren, Issac, Emerson, Jack, Everett, Savannah, Brynlee and Tilly; her niece, Amy Glover Kelly (George). And also a host of beloved extended family and friends.
A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Free Union Church of the Brethren, 4152 Free Union Rd. Free Union VA 22940, with a meal to follow in the reception hall.
