I only had a short but very meaningful acquaintance with James. He was in my brigade during our basic Army training. With already having some previous military experience, James was much more knowledgeable than me. He was a patient and caring classmate who helped me navigate the official and social nuances of military service. James helped me become a better soldier and more confident officer. I will be forever thankful. 

Ira and Chris,
I was so saddened to hear about James. You and the rest of your family are in my thoughts as you cope with this unimaginable loss. 
We are not suppose to outlive our children. The grief must be overwhelming. I hope memories of happy times with him help to sustain and comfort you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had the right words, just know I deeply care.
