William Wayne Sisk, Sr., age 73, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Carolina's ContinueCARE Hospital in Pineville, NC. Born February 22, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC to Helen Cox Sisk and Enoch Moses Sisk, Sr.
He served 12 years in the US Army doing tours twice in Germany, one in Korea and once in Vietnam where he received a number of medals including a Purple Heart. After returning from Vietnam, he was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Bragg and Fort Jackson, leaving the military to join the Mecklenburg County Police Department in 1971 and upon consolidation, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. He retired in 1999 after 27 years. During retirement, he served 5 years with Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office as a Reserve Officer.
Mr. Sisk is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife Cybele "Suzie" Oates Sisk of Mint Hill, NC, daughter Cynthia Suzanne Adams (David) of Charlotte, NC, sons William Wayne Sisk, Jr (Tracy) of Durham, NC and Robert Michael Sisk (Sarah) of Concord, NC. Four grandchildren; Sadie Sisk of Jefferson, GA, Nicole and Lillie Sisk of Concord, NC and Gavin Adams of Charlotte, NC. Sister, Nancy Sisk Edwards (Landon) of Fayetteville, NC, brother Enoch Moses Sisk, Jr of Fayetteville, NC and brother-in-law Robert Michael Oates (Winnie) of Mountain View, AR along with many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 20th of June, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Services-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
A committal service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gary Sinese Foundation, Wounded Warriors or Badge of Honors Memorial Foundation.
