William Morris Nance

Mr. Nance, age 91, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at his home. Born January 2, 1924 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late William Franklin Nance and Addie Edmund Nance. Mr. Nance served in the U.S. Navy. He was a self-employed electrician for over 40 years. Mr. Nance was a member of Statesville Road Baptist Church and a former member of Derita Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, deacon and Boy Scout troop leader. He was a member of Derita Masonic Lodge and the Friendly Club. Mr. Nance enjoyed traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

The memorial service to celebrate the life of William Morris Nance will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 15th at Statesville Road Baptist Church, 4901 Statesville Road, with his grandson-in-law, Reverend David Teague, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Survivors include two children, Gary Nance and wife, Gloria and Sandy Cochran and husband, Rusty; five grandchildren, Marcy Givens (Eric), Katie Teague (David), Ashley Robinson (Lahareyo), Emily McDaniel (Alex) and Ryan Cochran; and seven great grandchildren, Brad, Sophie, Molly, Julia, Lanie, Chloe and Selena. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nance was preceded in death by his first wife, Minerva Formyduval Nance and second wife, Mary Cox Nance.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to his caregivers during the past three years, Michelle Wilson, Martha Whitehead, Angie Gibson and Mollie McKee.
