William Thomas ”Bill” Gamble, 81, passed away December 30, 2017. He was born February 15, 1936, the son of Thomas Lemuel Gamble and Hesber Irene Hamrick Gamble of Shelby, North Carolina. He is survived by his brother Joe Neil Gamble, sister-in-law Kim Clark Gamble, wife of 60 years Virginia Singleton Gamble, sons Thomas Victor Gamble and William Scott Gamble, daughters-in-law Sherri Neely Gamble and Lisa Dantzler Gamble, grandchildren Thomas Andrew Gamble, Tyler Alexander Gamble, Hannah Joyce Gamble, Heather Grace Gamble, Haleigh Elizabeth Gamble, and great grandson Thomas Braxton Gamble.
Bill was a career educator earning an associate degree from Gardner Webb College, undergraduate and master’s degrees in education from Western Carolina University and a completion certificate from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System Principal Training Course. He gave over three decades of educational service as teacher and principal to Charlotte-Mecklenburg students where he excelled at every level.
Bill’s passion was the outdoors where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Upon retirement he was happiest when he was in nature with his children and grandchildren.
The family is eternally grateful for the care he received at the Carolinas Medical Center Stroke Unit and the Hospice House at Southminster in Charlotte. These are very special people that do thankless work in times of great need and they deserve recognition.
Services for Mr. Gamble will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210, with the visitation from 1 pm - 2 pm, and the Memorial Service beginning at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 E 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
