The youngest of five children, Bill was born in Charlotte on February 27, 1941 to James Robert Dixon and Laura Blanche Hartis. He attended First Ward Middle School and Piedmont High School. In his younger years, Bill was a gas station attendant and sold fountain drinks at Memorial Stadium.
After graduation, Bill joined the US Army at Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he proudly served his country as a Military Policeman before his honorable discharge years later.
Upon returning to Charlotte, Bill subcontracted as an electrician for Reid Electric, Foy Electric, Hill Electric and Blythe Electric.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife Jane; sons Mike and Tim and daughter Lisa Jones along with seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Funeral service will begin at 2pm with burial immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park with military honors rendered.
