Mrs. Hodges graduated from Central High School in 1942. She was a retired bookkeeper and a long-time member of St. John's Baptist Church. Mrs. Hodges volunteered at St. John's Hospitality House for many years, and also at Presbyterian Main's surgical waiting room.
Mrs. Hodges is survived by her children, J. Michael Hodges and his wife Kim of Charlotte and Mary Shields and her husband Kenneth of Pickens, SC; grandchildren, Holly Goodman and husband Michael, Allison Correll, and Jackson Hodges; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Correll and Logan Goodman. She also leaves behind many other loved family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, always expressing love for her children and everyone that shared her life. Her favorite words were "I love you".
A service to celebrate her life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in the chapel at St. John's Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:15-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at St. John's Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Baptist Church, 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.
