Virginia “Jeannie” Blew, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left us on September 25th, 2024 at the age of 80. Born December 20th,1943 to Harold and Iva Nash in Kirksville Missouri, Jeannie brought joy to all those around her with her humor and love of life.
Jeannie graduated Marceline High School in 1961 and during her time there she met the man she would marry, James “Jim” Blew. Their marriage began in 1962 and lasted 35 years, giving them two children who they loved dearly.
While raising her children Jeannie became a typist for Universal Press Syndicate, a time she would always look back on fondly. After furthering her education by getting a degree in Accounting at UNC Greensboro, Jeannie was proud to become a Certified Public Accountant and spent a fulfilling career in corporate taxes.
After retiring in 2010, Jeannie enjoyed spending time with her family, attending occasional movies, discussing reality television, having a kindle in every room of her house to accommodate her love of reading, catching up with her loved ones on the phone, and collecting rare and beautiful Christmas ornaments (They took up three trees). She had a wide breadth of life experience and gave terrific advice to her grandchildren.
Jeannie was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Iva, her former husband, Jim, and her son Randy.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jaime and Kevin Walker, her sister and brother-in-law Jeannette and Roger Briggs, and her grandchildren Hannah Rodgers and her husband Isaac Rodgers, Justin Walker and Hannah Ireland.
A special thanks to the Levine and Dickson Hospice House and their wonderful staff.
Jeannie was an avid elephant lover. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made to the Save the Elephants Organization in Jeannie’s name at www.savetheelephants.org
Funeral services are under the direction of the Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline, Missouri. There will be a graveside service at 11AM on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. All are welcome to join us in celebrating the life of Jeannie Blew.
