Vann was born August 2, 1950, to James and Wallena Miller. He was a 1968 graduate of Garinger High School. After his time as a Vietnam Era veteran, he was a loyal employee of 38 years with Duke Energy (formerly Duke Power).
For over 40 years, Vann was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and served as a member of the Masonry Club 742 Mint Hill Lodge.
The pillar of the family, Vann was a man of strong work ethic who put his family first in everything. He loved hunting, fishing and had to be tinkering in his downtime. As a young man, he was known for his exceptional athletic skills in basketball and baseball, which led to many years of coaching his son in baseball. All that knew him have a memory of his huge smile and the humor he’d bring to the room. But above all, the love he had for his wife, children and grandchildren will be remembered the most.
Vann is survived by his wife Debbie of 52 years. Children Amy (Mike) Brock, and Bryan (Hannah Hinson) Miller. Grandchildren Kayla Gragg, Kyle (Hanna) Gragg, Grant Miller, and Aubrey Miller. Great-grandchild Aiden Gragg. Siblings William “Bill” (Peggy) Miller, Larry (Sandy) Miller, and Mary Anne (Larry) Owens. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
