Tonya Ferrell Cathey

Born in Charlotte, NC on June 6, 1962, she is the daughter of Thomas and Karen Vichesky Ferrell.

Cissy graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and studied accountancy at Southern University in Savannah, Ga. Tonya loved working with and meeting people from all walks of life. She worked in customer service for Lufthansa Airlines and as a happy barista for Starbucks. She was a devout Christian and member of Shepherd Road Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL.

While Tonya enjoyed many friends, colleagues and customers, she dearly loved her family and most deeply loved her children, John Quinn Cottle II(Elaine), Angel Brooke Nicolodi (Jeremy) and Gaylon Thomas Cathey(Marissa); and her grandchildren, Jaydon, Riley, Zayne, Aubrey, Ellie, Piper and Lucas.

She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Sue Hunt(Travis) and Manya Ferrell Jeffers(Fred).

A sister, Sandra Ferrell Wells preceded her in death on March 8, 1997.

Funeral Services are planned for 2:30 pm Friday, February 9, 2018 in the Worship Center at Independence Hill Baptist Church, 10220 Independence Hill Road, Huntersville, NC with Pastor Todd Marlin officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 1 to 2:30 pm.

Burial will take place in Orange Park, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in memory of Tonya Cathey may be made to the Independence Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
