He was born on October 6, 1938 in Oneonta, NY to Robert and Margaret Packard Gray. He proudly served his county in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in Ft. Benning, GA where he met his wife. He was a member of Derita Baptist Church for over 30 years. He helped coach his sons Football and baseball teams while they were growing up. Tom worked for Edgecomb Steel for 32 years until he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth Gray, his four sons, Harold Frank Gray (Margaret) of Charlotte, Philip “Phil” Gray (Patsy) of Blackburn, SC, Randy Lynn Gray of Charlotte, Mark Dwayne Gray of Charlotte; his two granddaughters, Brittiney Amanda Gray, Tangie Marie Gray; a brother Warren Gray (Bonnie) of Newark, NY; five nephews, one niece; and a bother-in-law David Neel (P.J.) of Columbus, GA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Wayne Gray and a brother Robert Clifford Gray.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel 6300 Mallard Creek Road. Graveside services will take place 1:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2010 in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
