Susan Roth

She was born on March 13, 1957 in Onondaga County, New York to the former William Stanley Sr. and Carol Marie (Christian) Harnden. She married Martin S. Roth in August 1980 who preceded her in death in 2003. They had two children together; Melissa May (Roth) Hatt and Aaron Martin Roth who preceded her in death in 2008.

Ms. Roth graduated from St. Pius X High School Piscataway, NJ in 1975 where she enjoyed being in the school plays. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate from Somerset County Technical Institute Bridgewater, NJ, in 1979 and her Registered Nurse Degree from Raritan Valley Community College Branchburg, NJ in 1982. She spent the next 30 years as a guardian angel to all her patients. When not tending to others, Ms. Roth enjoyed reading and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. In her last days and hours, the care she received from the hospital nurses and staff was the same compassionate care she had always given to all those in need. She deserved that and her family is forever grateful to those who made her comfortable in her final hours.

Susan is survived by her daughter Melissa and son-in-law Warren Hatt of Fuquay-Varina, NC, step mother, Kathleen Harnden of Brooksville, FL, grandchildren Hayden Aaron, Kaitlyn Marie, and Austin Martin, brother and sister-in-law, William S. Harnden II and Sue Ann Seccia-Harnden of Clinton, NJ, brother Robert C. Harnden of Fort Lauderdale, FL and brother Thomas P. Harnden and partner Wes Wilson of Marietta, GA, niece Katherine (Harnden) Olson, her husband Adam Olson and great-nephew Anthony William Olson of Newark, DE, niece Jessica (Harnden) Bagniewski and her husband Mark Bagniewski of Cranford, NJ.

Ms. Roth loved her family and friends fiercely and we will all truly miss her compassion, gentleness, kindness and most of all, her laugh.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
