Sharon Kay Burns

Sharon was born to the late Fred Ballard and Annie Lucille Ballard. She grew up in Lincolnton and later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina after spending several years in Chapel Hill. She spent most of her career as a legal assistant at Lead Tools technologies and enjoyed her work and the many friends she made.

Along with her colleagues she had numerous friends. Sharon made close relationships with everyone. She loved playing tennis with her beloved “beach babes” and above all she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. She was an exceptional Mimi.

Sharon had an immense love of the arts and she and her daughter, Kelly frequently attended ballets, musicals and other dance performances. Sharon was a kind and thoughtful person and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. A celebration of life will be held in late April. More details to follow. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Jason) Simon; sister Beckie Mitchem; brother Fred "Pudgy" Ballard; nephew Mark (Kristin) Mitchem & family, Jonathan (fiance, Michelle Mitchem; extended family WIlliam (Lygia) Burns; granddaughters Layla and Hannah Simon. She is preceded in death by brother in law Terry Mitchem and sister in law Fran Ballard.
