“Polly”
Charlotte – Polly Keisler died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at The Carriage Club, Charlotte, NC. She was born July 11, 1919 to the late Anna Smith Hunsucker and Garland Hunsucker of Conover, NC. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Clyde A. Keisler, and son, Barry James Keisler.
Polly is survived by her children: Kay and husband Dennis Leffler of Charlotte, Clyde A. Keisler, Jr. of Sanford, and Brenda Sullivan of Mooresville; grandchildren, Andrea and husband Jay Jung of Greensboro, Janice and husband Frank Layne of Cary, Linda and husband Steven Gucciardi of Charlotte, and Renee Vaden of Sanford; great- grandchildren, Zack and Blythe Layne; River, Clyde, and Jesse Jung; Sophia, Alaina and Anthony Gucciardi; Michael Hutchinson; and sister, Jeanette Bollinger of Conover.
Polly was a lifelong Lutheran. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John’s Lutheran in Conover. Early in married life, she and her husband moved to Cary, NC; they and four other couples founded Our Savior Lutheran in Raleigh. After her husband’s death, she joined Resurrection Lutheran in Cary. She moved to Charlotte in her later years and attended Christ Lutheran Church, sometimes attending Providence Community Church at The Carriage Club during inclement weather. She was a dedicated wife and mother, diligent homemaker, volunteer, seamstress, and gardener, but always held her church as a priority.
An Interment Service will be 12:00 pm Saturday, Jan. 18th at Montlawn Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran, 1500 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC; Resurrection Lutheran, 100 W. Lochmere Drive, Cary, NC; Christ Lutheran, 4519 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC; or Novant Hospice & Palliative Care, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC.
