Ruth Lee Shepard Wilson, 96, of Charlotte,NC, passed away on Saturday, the 13th of July 2024 at Atrium Health- Jesse Helms Nursing center in Monroe NC surrounded by her loving family. Born the 27th of September, 1927 in Franklin NC to the late Thomas Greeley and Lela Evans Shepard.
Ruth was a daddy's girl and loved being outside and loved participating in all the farm life chores. She had 3 sisters Bonnie, Louise, Lorean and a brother Judd. They were a hardworking, God fearing- loving family. When mom first started working she worked at the Five & Dime Store. A mutual friend set up a blind date for Ralph to meet Ruth. Ralph decided to assess and take an early peak. When Ralph went in, Ruth happened to be applying her lipstick and he was Smitten........68 years of a loving marriage Ralph and Ruth were blessed with 5 children, Doug, Harold, Johnny, Gloria, and Darlene, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Ruth was always very involved in her church and loved teaching children in Sunday School, always bringing her 2 daughters to learn the importance of being involved in serving. She always found joy in being a teacher in Vacation Bible school. She loved being the one that always reached out to those in need. Ruth loved calling and checking in on the "shut-ins" sharing a prayer and singing to them. She loved giving them a "special" call that made their day.
Ruth is preceded in death by husband James Ralph Wilson, her parents, her siblings, son- in-law Dale Eramo and great grandchild Lyla.
She is survived by her children Doug(Mary) Wilson of Belmont, Harold(Lisa) Wilson of Savannah, Georgia, Johnny Wilson of Charlotte, Gloria Eramo of Indian Trail and Darlene Wilson of Indian Trail and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A celebration of her life will be held at Forest Lawn West Funeral Services 4601 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC 28208 on Thursday July 18th at 10:30 AM with Pastor Chris Justice officiating.
