Robert Wilkinson

Robert (Bobby) Lewis Wilkinson, Sr. of Charlotte passed away April 14, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital. A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 10301 Harwood Lane, Reverends Brian Taule, Bobby Wilkinson, III and Tony Harper officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8PM Monday evening at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Mr. Wilkinson was born in Charlotte May 2, 1929 son of the late Robert William and Bessie Taylor Wilkinson. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ideal Men’s Sunday School Class, had an awesome faith in Jesus Christ and was a great soul winner, had served as a Deacon, was member of the Senior Citizen Group and was bus driver for them. Mr. Wilkinson retired as a driver for Consolidated Freight Lines and had driven a million miles without an accident. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping. He leaves a Godley Legacy for his grand and great grandchildren

Wife of 64 years, Joyce (Honey) Boone Wilkinson

Daughters: Cheryl Bowers (Steve) and Kathy Bridges (Tony) all of Charlotte

Son: Bobby L. Wilkinson, Jr. (Joy) of Charlotte

Grandchildren: Michael (Tonya),Travis (Mindi), Melissa (Jon), Tony (Katy), Jayme, Jenna, Alicia (Mark), Bobby III (Bethany), Kurt (Melissa) and 22 great grandchildren. His grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and the Ideal Sunday School Class and Deacons as honorary.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Barbour. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, PO Box 2, Mt. Holly, NC 28l20.
