Mr. Seitlin, 95, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on September 13, 2011 at home at the Carriage Club. He was born on November 24, 1915 in Miami, FL, a son of the late Henry and Jennie Seitlin; and beloved husband to his late wife, Annette Seitlin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Sam and David Seitlin..
Lou grew up in Miami, FL and graduated from Miami High School in 1934 and the University of Florida in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant and participated in the north African Campaign and the invasion of Anzio. He met and married Annette while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. After the war they moved to Miami where he was in the insurance business with his older brother for over 50 years.
Lou was past-president of the Beth David Congregation Men’s Club. He was also past-president of the Florida Gold Coast AAU(Amateur Athletic Union), where he was active for many years. He was a life-long Mason and past Master. He spent the last five years at the Carriage Club and leaves behind many friends, especially his Monday poker buddies. He was an avid Miami Heat and Miami Dolphin fan.
Lou moved to Charlotte in 1997 to be with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the love of his life.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Larry Seitlin (Stephanie), daughter Rebecca Stewart (Dr. Randy Stewart); grandchildren, Amy Seitlin, Sherry Kornfeld (Bob), Dr. Eric Seitlin (Lisa), Ryan Stewart, Dr. Melissa Stewart and Lauren Stewart; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Mimi, Anna and Jordan Brown, Ava and Ezra Kornfeld, all of Charlotte; and his brother Jack Seitlin from Miami, FL.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Hebrew Cemetery with Rabbi Murray Ezring officiating.
