Bobby was a “Christmas Baby” born on December 24, 1942 to Hubert and Deazree Puckett. He was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School. Bobby had a long, outstanding career with Harold Food Company, where he was Vice President of Sales. He truly loved his job and made lifetime friends with many of his customers along the way. After retirement, he went on to enjoy a second fulfilling job at Godley Auction Company. He enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship there with his long-time local friends.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his youngest son, Jonathan “Jonboy” Lee Puckett and a brother, Richard “Dicky” Puckett. He is survived by children: Julie Mozeley (Dale M), Scott Puckett and Chad Puckett (Jill); seven sisters: Elizabeth “Lib” Primm, Mary Ann Todd, Susan Wells, Jane Adams, Gail Krause, all of Charlotte, NC, Joan Bowers of Atlanta, GA and Betty Robinette of McAdenville, NC; brothers, Jimmy “Choo Choo” of Charlotte, NC and Billy Puckett of Whitsett, NC. Bobby especially loved and adored his seven grandchildren: Megan (Daniel W), Kristian, Grace (Trae), Judah, Carly, Colt and Lexi. His legacy now includes great-grandchildren, Indie, Daniel and Ben, that loved him affectionately as “Poppa Bobby.” He was the very definition of a family man and a loving father to his four children. He loved his large, wonderful family of ten siblings. They were all close to him and visited during his final days right up to his passing. His extended family includes a long list of favorite nieces and nephews too. He will be missed by all, but kept closely in our hearts forever more.
Bobby was a social, fun-loving, kind, sweet and very thoughtful man. He was a true nature lover who enjoyed vegetable gardening, planting flowers, birdwatching and trout fishing. Many of his favorite times were spent at his mountain house in Blowing Rock, NC where he especially loved swinging on the front porch with family and friends. He was a simple and humble man and appreciated the beauty of a snowfall in the mountains and cooking good food for family and guests. Bobby believed in creating good luck and would carry a buckeye in his pocket every day. One of our favorite memories of Bobby was his favorite green truck that he loved to take to Metrolina Dirt Track back in the day on Friday nights!
The entire Puckett family is grateful for the care he received from numerous medical professionals, including the kindness of the staff at Levine Hospice House in Huntersville, NC, especially during the hardest last week. Sincere thank you to all who shared prayers, visited with him, sent cards, flowers and snack baskets to keep his spirits lifted. The kindness and support has been most comforting for the past few weeks. We look forward to celebrating his life with everyone.
