Robert Burl Carpenter

Mr. Carpenter, age 67, of Charlotte, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 in Hospice House of Union County. Born July 26, 1946 in Wadesboro, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Carpenter and Esther Baucom Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a Purple Heart Recipient for his honorable service in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed insurance agent. Mr. Carpenter was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Deep Springs Baptist Church - Peachland and Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. Mr. Carpenter enjoyed antiquing, fishing and walking.

The service to celebrate the life of Robert Burl Carpenter will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 14th, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Goode, officiating. Interment will follow in Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service.

Survivors include his wife of eight years, Linda McLendon Carpenter; siblings, Gary Carpenter and wife, Reva and Doris Lee Hill and husband, Steve; brother-in-law, Steve Marks and wife, Patsy; nieces and nephews, Clint Carpenter and wife, Nikki, Marie Carpenter High and husband, Michael, Lori Hill Stikeleather and husband, Brian, Stephen Hill and wife, Stephanie, Justin Chris and wife, Anita, Suzanne Hill, Daniel Hill and wife, Alisha, Jessica Mitchell and husband, Chad, Lisa Marks and Tate Marks and wife, Jessica; and great nieces and great nephews, Gage Carpenter, Zach and Kaylie High, Gavin Dipple, Ashton and Addison Stikeleather, Claudia and Andrew Hill, Sawyer and Sadee Gray Mitchell and Ella Marks.
