Robert F. Cannon

Robert F. Cannon, 93, of Charlotte passed away September 8, 2020 in his home. Born May 7, 1927 in Caldwell County, he was the son of General Ransom and Lillian (Henderson) Cannon. He was the husband of Ruby Laney Cannon, who preceded him in death after 53 years of marriage.

A WWII U.S. Marine Corp Veteran, Robert was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church in Hudson and Westgate Masonic Lodge 738.

He retired after working in the automotive industry for more than 60 years.

An avid Antique Car Collector, Robert was an expert at repairing small engines. He enjoyed attending Sunday school and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Eddie) Wrenn; daughter-in-law, Melanie Cannon; grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Palmer, Richie (Alicia) Fowler, Alex Cannon and Madeline Cannon; great-grandson, Cannon Palmer; sister, Rosie Lail; nieces, nephews, devoted cousins and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son, Robbie Cannon; great-granddaughter, Ruby Laney Palmer; brother, Harold Cannon; sisters, Johnsie Triplett and Fern Triplett.

Graveside Service 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Military Honors and Masonic Rights will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Center Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
