Rob Byrum, 66, of the Steele Creek community in Charlotte, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015. His loving wife Sandy and family were by his side. Rob graduated from Olympic High School in 1967, served in the US Navy on the USS Forrestal, worked as a Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Policeman, began his own woodworking company, and continued a lifetime of building beautiful woodwork. Rob was many things - a devoted husband, son, brother, father and PawPaw to many. He was a craftsman, a hunter and fisherman, NASCAR enthusiast, and storyteller. He most loved being with family and friends. He will be forever loved and missed.
In addition to Sandy, his wife of 42 years, Rob is survived by his father Robert O. Byrum, Sr., his children Stephanie and Kevin, his grandsons Dayton and Trevor, and great-grandson Zane. Also left to cherish Rob is his sister, Anne, family and friends. Rob was preceded in death by his mother Ruth, and his brother Jim. A celebration of Rob's life will be held Tuesday, September 1st, 2:00 pm, at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28217. The Reverend Dr. Jeff Pinkston will officiate the service. Visitation will follow in the Family Life Center. Burial will be private at a later date.
