Rick was born on March 26, 1932 to the late Edward and Alice Lewis. He spent most of his life in Vermont - Newport, Middlebury, Brandon and lastly, Burlington. Rick served in the US Army as a Paratrooper during the Korean War. He met his wife, Annette Renee Cornelius, while he was stationed at Fort Campbell in Hopkinsville, KY. They married in 1952 and had three children.
Rick became a teacher in Brandon, VT and continued his career in education well into his 80's.
His influence on his students was so impactful that he kept in touch with many of them up until his passing. Rick was an avid skier, and even started a ski team with kids from the first school he taught at. He always had a special place in his heart for his students.
Rick was predeceased by his wife, Renee in 2018 and his three siblings. He is survived by his children; Michael Lewis of Warren, Vermont, Janet (Bill) Danner of Matthews, NC and Nancy (Frank) Zimmermann of Cumming, GA, grandchildren; Matthew and Katie Lewis, Gretchen (Danny) Botts, Jonah Tyler, Zackary (Lauren) Zimmermann, Joshua (Matt) Zimmermann and Jacob (Jessica) Zimmermann; eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Atticus. As well as numerous other family members.
A private family service will be held in Vermont.
