Rhett Brandon Butler, born July 19, 1974 in Atlanta Georgia, passed away May 18, 2014 in Matthews, NC peacefully while asleep. He was preceded in death by his father, Rex Butler; maternal grandparents Jack and Peggy Kent, Leo and Lois Krenz and uncle Jeff Krenz.
He is survived by his daughter, Trinity; stepson, Caleb; mother, Dana Butler; brother, Shawn Butler; sister, Kristi Butler; wife, Erinn Butler; paternal grandparents, Romie and Louise Butler; niece, Heather; nephews, Chris, Brandon, Luke and Logan. He will be missed by a large extended family and a multitude of friends.
Rhett graduated from Independence High School in 1993, was a financial advisor for New York Life Insurance Co., and previously served as a volunteer firefighter at Bakers Fire Department in Monroe, NC. He was a member of Valley Church in Indian Trail, NC.
Rhett was passionate about spending time with family and friends, the Carolina Panthers, football, skiing, fishing, NASCAR and camping. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him.

The family will gather to receive friends at the McEwen Funeral Service – Mint Hill Chapel from 6 to 8 on Friday, May 23, 2014.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Morningstar Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Mouritsen officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
