Becky graduated from Old Town High School in Forsyth County, NC in 1932 and was a star player on the Old Town girls' basketball team. She furthered her education at Draughn's Business College in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating in 1935. Immediately following graduation, she moved to Charlotte and went to work in the trust department at American Trust Company, which later became Bank of America. Mrs. Hood then worked for Drs. Owen, Harrelson and Jordan until her retirement.
Becky, with her husband Fred, was a charter member of Carmel Country Club, and she remained so for 64 years. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and was also a long-time member of Little Church on the Lane.
Becky is survived by a sister, Nathalie Pinkston Van Etten of Jacksonville, N.C.; niece, Rebecca Marthanne Van Etten Cayce of Raleigh; great-nephew, James Carlton Smith, III of Dallas, Ga.; great-niece, retired MSGT. Jennifer Catherine Keith Davis of Jacksonville, N.C.; great-great-nephew, Paul Grayson Keith of Jacksonville; and great-great-niece, Caitlin Grayce Keith, also of Jacksonville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred A. Hood; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Pinkston of Virginia; and brother, Jesse Roy Pinkston, Jr. of Alabama.
Mrs. Hood requested her life to be celebrated at Little Church on the Lane in the chapel where she was married. The service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26th. Her family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
