Born August 30, 1952, Bishop Phillip Milton Davis, 62, of Weddington, NC, entered eternal rest at his home on August 29, 2015. Dr. Davis was the Founder and Senior Pastor of Nations Ford Community Church in Charlotte, NC. He was well-regarded as a visionary, leadership coach, motivational speaker, friend, husband and father. He was a hero to many with a genuine love for God’s people.
A native of Cincinnati, OH, Dr. Davis graduated from Xavier University of Cincinnati with a degree in Business. He received his Master of Ministry and Doctor of Divinity from Carolina School of Theology.
He was consecrated into the International Bishops Conference on February 22, 2014.
Dr. Davis served the body of Christ and advanced the Kingdom of God for more than three decades. In addition to establishing and growing the Nations Ford Community Church (including the Ballantyne satellite campus), Dr. Davis, along with his wife, Pastor Cynthia Davis, also founded the Galilean Baptist Church of Charlotte and the Alpha Community Church of Alpharetta, GA. Dr. Davis was the Founder of The Male Leadership Academy of Charlotte, The Nations Ford Christian Academy, Queen City Bible College, The Envision Life School of Leadership and Ministry, and The Southwest Community Development Corporation. Dr. Davis was President of Phillip Davis Ministries and a Certified Professional Coach from The Dream Releaser Coaching Institute. His radio broadcast, EnVision Life, has aired for nearly 30 years on WordNet Radio. Dr. Davis authored two books – The Vision Casting Congregation and Father Force: Changing the World One Life at A Time – and the soon-to-be-released The Untapped Power of a Man. Having served as Director of Church Planting at the North American Mission Board, Dr. Davis served on numerous boards locally and regionally, including the State of North Carolina Social Services Commission.
Dr. Davis poured himself into his congregation and the community, driven by a passion for others to “Think Big”. His motivational mantra to all was to “Occupy Your Destiny”. Committed to the next generation of leaders, he founded the You-LeadTM program to develop individuals 40 years of age and under into leaders of tomorrow. He lived by the Word of God especially Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Dr. Davis was predeceased by his father, George Anderson; brother, Robert; sisters, Elaine, Willa Mae and Brenda.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife and faithful partner in ministry, Pastor Cynthia L. Davis; sons, Pastor RJ and Bradley Davis, of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Ashley Davis of Cincinnati, OH; mother, Mrs. Mamie Davis of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Jayda, Nicollette, and Camille; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; the Nations Ford Community Church family.
Dr. Phillip and Pastor Cynthia Davis would have celebrated 42 years of marriage on September 1, 2015.
