Mrs. Lankford, age 92, of Charlotte went to be with God on November 12, 2013 after a short illness. She was born October 2, 1921 in Burnsville, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Joseph Ernest Black and Ida Elizabeth Black. She was one of eight children, six daughters and two sons. She is survived by two sisters, June B. Wilson of Old Fort, NC and Barbara Jean Silver (Don) of Glenwood, NC and two sisters-in-law, Evern C. Black and Lois F. Black of Marion, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James C. Lankford. She is survived by her daughter, LaTrell L. Ross and husband John; two grandsons, Jeff Ross (Denise), Timothy Ross; three great-grandsons, Dillon Ross, Timothy Ross, Jacob Ross. Survived by many nieces and nephews. She worked for Hudson Housing and retired from Sears. She loved her church, Midwood Baptist and was very active. If she was not at church working she was in her beautiful yard working. Pearl was happiest when she was talking and bragging about her grandsons and great-grandsons, and that was often. A visitation will be held at Midwood Baptist Church in the church sanctuary at 1pm Sunday, November 17, 2013 followed by the funeral service at 2pm, which will be conducted by Dr. Garry Baldwin.
