August 13, 1931 – April 11, 2015
Charlotte, North Carolina
Our mother, Pat Brown, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2015 surrounded by her beloved children. Mom was born on August 13, 1931 in Bismarck, North Dakota and was the second of five children that were blessings to her parents, John and Madeline Scher. Mom’s family relocated to Spokane, Washington in 1936.
After Mom married, her young family moved to Charlotte in 1963 and fell in love with North Carolina. Mom retired from Charlotte Pipe and Foundry as a Cost Accountant of Plastics after 29 years of dedicated service.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved youngest child, Bobby, her brother Jay Scher and her sister, Gloria Johnston. Mom is survived by her loving children, Pam and her husband Bubba Stavrakas, Cheryl Brown, Cindy Brown, Ronnie Brown and his wife Sharon; by her sister Shareen Ketchem and husband Fred, and by her brother Bob Scher and his wife Joyce. She leaves behind her grandsons, Brian Stavrakas and his wife Connie, Robbie Stavrakas, Drew Barringer, Brad Barringer and his wife Carolena, Kevin Coble, and her precious great-grandchildren, Nathan and Makala Stavrakas and Ava and Julia Barringer. Also surviving her are several special nieces and nephews, a host of dear friends and last, but not least, her faithful four legged companion Mollie Brown.
Mom loved us with all of her heart as we loved her. She was a woman of great strength and spirit. She loved and lived life to the very fullest until a cancer diagnosis quickly took its toll. We will miss her dearly and will grieve deeply as she taught all of us so many things…with the exception of how to live without her.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 2:30 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Remo DiSalvatore, OFM Cap will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 PM at the Church. Interment will follow the Mass at Sharon Memorial Park.
Mom asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Levine-Dickson Hospice House or the St. Thomas Aquinas Building Fund.
We thank you for all you sacrificed for us Mom and, until we are together again, we will love and miss you to the moon and back!
The Staff of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park is honored to be entrusted with the care for Pat Brown and her family. Condolences may be sent to Pat’s family online at https://www.mcewenfs.com
