Mrs. Skulkety, 89, of Charlotte, NC, died January 23, 2012 at Windsor House Assisted Living in Spartanburg, SC.
Born June 29, 1922 in Salisbury, NC, Mrs. Skulkety was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Ada Smith Stewart. She graduated from Salisbury Business College, Mars Hill College and studied Art at UNCCH and USC, Columbia, SC. She had worked in various accounting offices in Charlotte including: Atlantic Envelope Co., The Johnston Mills Office, Associated General Contractors of North and South Carolina, and Derek Church Williams, Landscape Architect.
Mrs. Skulkety was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, member of the Administrative Board and was active in the United Methodist Women, and the Livingston Retirees. She was on the Board of Directors of the Shepherds Center East and a member of Flotilla 17-05 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
The Skulkety family will greet friends 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, January, 26, 2012 at Memorial United Methodist Church, 4012 Central Avenue, Charlotte. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary with Pastor Don Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lewis Skulkety and two sisters: Marion Stewart Hannah and Lillian Stewart Ballard. Mrs. Skulkety is survived by her three great nieces: Nancy Hannah Corriher of Salisbury, NC; Sarah Ballard Duvall and Lisa Ballard Kennedy of Charleston, SC and two step-children: Michael Skulkety and Helen Skulkety Farese and five step-grandchildren.
