Mary "Sis" Cochrane Godfrey

Mrs. Godfrey, 91, of Concord, NC, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died peacefully Wednesday, November 2, 2011 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 25, 1920 a daughter of the late Dave and Myrtle Welch Cochrane. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Godfrey and her brothers, James and Joe Cochrane and a sister, Dot Reaux. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church.

The Godfrey family will greet friends 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 5, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park. A service to celebrate her life will be held 12 Noon in the Chapel with The Reverend Anthony “Dump” Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her four children: Joyce (Ronald) Warter; Louise (Harvey) Gouch; Jim (Pat) Godfrey and Ronnie (Delores) Godfrey; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She is also survived by her brother, Dave Cochrane and sisters: Kathlene Howell, Myrtle Starnes, Ruth Keziah, Julia Smith, Peggy Behalior and Barbara Hoover.
