Mary Lou (Leming) Dombrowski, 95, passed away at home on March 4, 2023 in Charlotte, NC where she resided the past six years. Mary Lou, daughter of Nora and John Leming, was born and raised in Albany and a communicant of Our Lady of Angels. She was married for 66 years to Bernard who pre-deceased her. She is survived by her four daughters - Christine (Thomas), Mary Lou (Joseph), Patricia (Oscar) and Maureen (Santiago) – her grandchildren, Jennifer and Nicholas, and one furry friend (Wolfie).
After marrying, Mary Lou and Bernie moved from Albany to Central New York where they raised their four daughters. She was always engaged in her daughters’ school activities. After 35 years in Syracuse, they relocated to Stone Mountain, Georgia where she was an active member of the Smoke Rise Garden Club. She had a lifelong love of gardening and would enjoy working in the backyard fussing over her many plants. Mary Lou also had a soft spot for animals, rescuing and caring for dozens of stray cats over her lifetime.
Never fond of airplanes, Mary Lou still loved to travel to see her daughters in Barbados, Great Britain, Hawaii and throughout the continental United States and Canada.
A Mass will be held Friday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament in Albany, followed by an interment at St. Agnes Mausoleum in Menands. Tebbutt & Frederick Memorial Home is assisting the family in Albany.
In lieu of flowers, family requests a donation be made to one of Mary Lou’s favorite charities, Alley Cat Rescue (www.saveacat.org) or to your local animal rescue shelter.
