Martha Elizabeth Brown

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 20th at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, 11501 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of 74 years. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the church rotunda on Monday.

Martha was born on August 16, 1920, in Charlotte, NC. She is the daughter of the late Kate Morris Duncan and John Van Duncan. Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, Sr., her son, Fred, Jr., her brother, J Van Duncan and wife, Margaret, and her sister, Ada Duncan Pressley.

Martha was a long-time member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church and active in the women of the church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Martha is survived by two children: Jean Peterson and husband, Kenneth, Tim Brown and wife, Rebecca, and her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Brown. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her grandchildren: Leta Costello, Beth Edge, Chris Vargo, Matthew Brown, Benjamin Brown, Stephen Brown, Andrew Brown and Tamara Harty. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews and their families.

The family of Martha Brown wishes to express gratitude to her extended family at Wilora Lake Healthcare Center where she resided for many years. The amazing care and love you shared with her will always be remembered.
