She was born in Mebane, NC on December 22, 1936 to William and Frances Van Liere. A graduate of Mebane High in 1955 and Salem College in 1959, she began a 30-year career with CMS in 1969. Most of those years were spent at Myers Park High School, her home (and family) away from home. After earning a Masters Degree from Winthrop University, she moved from the classroom to the media center, where she retired as the Media Specialist at Myers Park High School in 1999.
Her love and dedication to her family were immeasurable. She was a loyal friend who took great pride and pleasure in doing for others. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and decorating (including herself), but her real passion was for the people in her life.
She was a gift that never stopped giving. Her glass was never half-full, but was always overflowing. She filled it with the joy and love she got from others, and simply dispensed it with her own flavor and spice. Hers was a special gift that could only be kept in the heart, where it can always be enjoyed by those lucky enough to have received it.
Marcille was preceded in death by her cherished sister, Vicki Van Liere Helms. She is survived by her two sons, Tenney I. Deane, III (Jodi) of Columbus, GA, and William Van Liere Deane (Amy) of Matthews, NC, and her four grandchildren, Taylor and Ty Deane, Haydn and Mason Deane.
A service to celebrate the life of Ms. Deane will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3rd at Harry & Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. A private graveside service will be held in Mebane at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215 or online at www.alzfdn.org/ContributetoAFA/makeadonation.html.
