Malcolm McLeod Murphy

A native of Savannah, Georgia, Mr. Murphy was born to the late Joseph Lee Murphy and Alice Camille Causey Murphy on October 17, 1953 and grew up in Pineland, SC. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. Mr. Murphy held various positions in information technology management and enjoyed golfing, hunting, coaching softball and was a black belt in tae kwon do.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Anna Harper Murphy of Charlotte; children, Caroline Camille Murphy, Kacy Lee Murphy both of Charlotte; brother, Joseph L. Murphy, Jr. and wife Sharon of Winston-Salem, NC and sister, Blake Camille Murphy Jones and husband Kim of Winston-Salem, NC.

The funeral service will be held 1:00p.m., Wednesday, June 27 in the chapel at McEwen Funeral Service – Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte with the Rev. Henry Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at the funeral home.
