Madeline Marie Bolger, 79, of Charlotte, NC (originally born and raised in New Bedford, MA), passed away at home on Saturday, August 4th surrounded by family and friends, after three plus years of kicking stage four lung cancer's butt!
Madeline was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Kinyon-Cambell Business School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Fisher College. She held many jobs in her lifetime, but her most memorable were as the Race Director of the Coors International Bike Race. In recent years (June 2005 till 2016) she worked at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church with the children as the Assistant Director in the before and after school programs, where she impacted the lives of many children and parents. Lastly, Madeline was a successful Real Estate Agent with Allen Tate Realty, where she was loved and respected by her co-workers, and even won Most Valuable Team Member.
Madeline started taking Ballroom dancing after arriving in Charlotte and competed and won several awards. She ultimately became a Dance Instructor for several years. Dancing brought her several dear friends, and up until her final year she enjoyed her Birthday dinners with her "Dance Ladies" (Mary, Pete and Dorothy). Madeline was a huge lover of all holidays, and had decorations for each adorning her home both inside and out. She won several neighbourhood awards for her decorations!! She was also a lover of hats and tiaras, of which she had many! Madeline loved life and lived it to the fullest right up to the end of her life. One of her favorite memories was her mission trip to Kenya!!
The family wants to thank her devoted oncologist, Dr. Sridhar Pal and his team, who worked tirelessly and above and beyond to provide the highest quality of treatment and care throughout her battle with cancer. The family wants to mention the amazing Hospice workers from Community Home Care and Hospice, who not only made her life comfortable, but also brought her great joy and love. These angels were named Tenisha, Belinda, Helena and Shaunta. The family also wants to thank Madison, as her other amazing caregiver during the last weeks of her life. Madeline is survived by her sister Eleanore, her children Christina (husband Michael), Christopher, Shaun (wife Kim), Jenna, her Granddaughters Haley and Olivia, her nephews Matthew, Mark, Michael (wife Donna, children Michael (wife Aubrey and daughter Reese), Christopher (wife Alexa) and Stephanie, Cheryl (husband Robert, children Robert, Elise and Kyra) and her bonus Grandchildren Nicholas, Ryan and Jamie and her bonus children Lori-Ann (husband Bob), Jason, Carrie (husband Jimmy), Tommy, and Barry. Finally her Sisters in Christ Monnie (husband Beau), Cindy (husband Randy) and Sherry (husband Fred).
