Mabel Lee Odell

Mabel Lee O'Dell, born in Selma, Al, moved to Birmingham, where she then attended Barber School, received her barber license and became a professional barber and part owner of the 5th Avenue Barber Shop.

Mabel loved the Lord, she was a faithful member of the Greater Saint John Baptist Church, Pastored by Rev. J.H. Williams, Sr.

There were no children born to Mabel; her precious Yorkie was her child.

The third born of fourteen siblings, preceding her in death her parents, Clifton and Pernella Washington; siblings, Pearl Washington, Florence Parnell (Arthur), Maxie Gordon (Earl), Willie Harris (Jessie Harris/Lawrence Goudy), Clifton Washington, Jr., Percy Washington and brother-in-law, Willie D. Price.

Left to mourn her death, sisters, Virginia Brown, Yvonne Price; brothers, Charles Washington (Margie Fay), Jerry Washington; loving sisters-in-law, Virginia Washington, Annette Washington "Desi" and Therlene Bradley; a host of nieces and nephews also her very special friend David Stitt and the staff of the Hunter Village Assisted Living facility were she resided until her death.

To know Mabel was to love her, she lived life her way to the very end.

Psalm 23:

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
