I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Leo when I was the Senior Manager at the FedEx QWGA location in Charlotte during the late ‘90s to 2006.  As noted by many others remembering Leo, he was just a genuinely good man.  Always a smile & kind word whenever you saw him.  Although he also possessed a sharp wit and enjoyed giving me a hard time about being from Detroit & a diehard Red Wings & Tigers (and Lions) fan!  It was always good natured as that was Leo’s way.  Never a cheap shot.  I fondly remember & miss those days.  The world was a better place with Leo in it.
My sincerest condolences to Beth and the rest of the family.  I hope & pray that God’s grace & fond memories bring each of you comfort in the coming days & years.  


We are so heartbroken to hear of Leo's passing. He was one of the sweetest, genuine guys you'd ever meet. I remember him dropping a package off at my job years ago and seeing me there with my class of 6 boys. He took time out of his busy schedule to play with them and entertain them. It was such a kind gesture, one I'll never forget. His smile would light up a room. There's no doubt the world lost an amazing man but heaven gained an angel.

I AM SO SORRY ABOUT LEO,YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.     

Such sadness that my truly best childhood friend has passed on to the next life. Although we hadn’t seen much of each other since he and Beth and the family moved here, he was always with me whenever I would hear James Taylor, Chicago, Neil Diamond etc. I know what a positive presence he was to all that had the privilege to know him. I’m so heartbroken for Beth and Megan and Trevor. I read some of the other condolences that really rang true of Leo. “The man we all wish we could be.” The one about Trevor’s girlfriend being his “bonus daughter.” I can hear him saying that and how heartfelt he was. People like Leo are rare and perhaps that’s why I can’t stop crying. The world was a better place with him here and that is why me and everyone else will miss him so dearly.

Leo, was my cousin,  he and my brother were both named after our grandfather.  I remember him as a young boy visiting in the summer and then as a young Marine that brought his bride Beth back to St Louis. He was always a reminder of the big smile that he had like his father, my Uncle Charlie.  I got to spend his 50th birthday at his party, at  his brother Steve's  house.  I had tickets to see Alan Jackson but I really wanted to see my cousins. So I gave away the tickets so I could attend his party. I will always feel blessed that I was able to see him again.
I will be praying for Beth, Megan, Trevor and the entire family. I will miss his big smile the most.


Leo would light up a room with his smile! He was the kindest person you would want to know. We remember back in the day at the old neighborhood he was the bicycle mechanic for all the kids. He would stop whatever he was doing and help the kids. Leo will be deeply missed. We are sending much love to Beth, Megan and Trevor

It was a privilege and an honor to call you my friend. They say that grief is the price for love, and I loved you like a brother and I’m heartbroken.  Today we pay our respects to the memories made and tomorrow we say farewell but it’s not a goodbye, it’s till me meet again.  Rest In Peace my friend.

I worked with Leo for 22.5 years at FedEx. We would arrive at work about the same time and…..
There was his smile and high black socks every day walking in from the back parking lot….
 “Hey Matt how is the family?” “How is the Fire Dept?” Even before I could get a word out. Just that rare genuine guy that asked questions because he cared.  I may have lost a friend but the heavens gained a great man.  You will be missed Leo

Lee you were the man,that I always wished I could be.We have lost alot,but heaven has gained so much.But I am staying a Braves fan.Your loving brother in-law Bryan.

I was so sorry to hear of Leo's passing. In all the years I worked with him at FedEx, he always had a positive attitude and was a friend to all.  He will truly be missed!

The photo above is of me on the obstacle course and Leo waiting to take his turn. I don’t remember exactly where or when this photo was taken but there’s Leo’s signature smile. During my time in the Marine Corps I came in contact with many people but none like Leo. He had the toughness and commitment of a Marine but his character was far above the rest of us. He was an example of what the rest of us jarheads should have been aspiring to be. I only learned in the last couple of years that  he and Beth were residing in NC and had hoped to get to reconnect after 30 years. My sadness in the missed opportunity is only surpassed by the joy in knowing that he was a child of the King and I will see him in eternity.  I’ve probably told the story a million times to my family about Leo and Beth inviting me over for dinner one day and feeding this country boy asparagus for the first time in my life. Funny what you remember. 

 So sorry to hear this news. Jeff and I remember him from the Day’s Sunday School class. I also served as an Awana’s captain with him for a few age groups. He was so kind and served in church. Love to the family and prayers for the days ahead. 

Leo was such a great guy… kind, generous,  and so fun to be around. Loved his infectious smile.  Doug & I are heartbroken for his wife Beth, daughter Megan & family, son Trevor and our daughter Karie who has been close to this beautiful family.  Forever grateful to Leo as he truly blessed Karie’s life in many ways.♥️

Leo , you was my gentle lion brother and you will be deeply missed. Don’t worry. I got Beth and the kids and will help them through this. You are healed now and God said well done my faithful servant. Love you brother in law. 

Leo came in town for a Cardinal game and a camping trip in 2019. It was such a great time as it always was seeing him. I will miss those times and will cherish all our memories we had.

Are hearts are so so beyond saddened to loose are beloved brother Leo he was the funniest guy loving man and very GOD Loving person  we will ever so love and miss see you again sweet Brother Love always and beyond your sister Cheri.

Leo was truly one of the the nicest and friendliest person I knew. I knew he loved the Lord Jesus Christ by how he lived his life. A devoted husband, father and grandfather. He lead his family in church and Genuinely cared for others. When he greeted you it was with enthusiasm like he was truly glad to see you. When he met Jesus face-to-face I am sure God said you have lived a godly life well done thy faithful servant. 

So heartbreaking to learn of Leo’s passing. My condolences to the family. RIP Leo
