A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great friend to many, Larry’s life was a testament to his unwavering love for God, his family, and the community around him.
Larry was preceded in death by Rupert Wilson Ballard (Father), Ruth Greene Ballard (Mother), and Kathy Ballard Hanna (Sister) and is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lisa, who was his partner and best friend throughout life’s journey. Together, they built a family that brought him immense pride and joy. He leaves behind his children, Kerby (MaryJane) and Susannah (Adam), and his cherished grandson, Parks Wilson, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, love, and faith.
Prior to being life-long partners, Larry and Lisa were coworkers at Controls Southeast, INC., where they met in 1989. Larry would end up having an opportunity to incorporate Southeast Valve, INC in 1993, where he and Lisa founded a company that became a family. Larry took great pride in SVI and its growth since getting his start. His efforts over the years resulted in a place of employment for hundreds of incredible people and will continue to do so into the future following his passing.
As a long-time member of Ballantyne Country Club, Larry was an avid golfer who found great camaraderie on the greens and even greater joy in the fellowship that followed. Friday afternoons were a highlight of his week, where he could often be found “holding court” in the men’s grill, sharing many laughs and stories with friends who became family. His presence there will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Larry’s love for Lake Wylie reflected his appreciation for life’s simple yet profound pleasures. Whether it was enjoying the serenity of the water or making memories with loved ones, the lake was a place that he would describe as his ‘’home away from home”.
Larry’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. He lived with gratitude, generosity, and a heart full of love. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
Services will be held at Light of Christ United Methodist Church, 9106 Bryant Farm Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277 on Friday, December 20, 2024 with a Visitation from 10 am-11 AM, Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM, followed with lunch afterwards at the church.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held near the end of January to honor the remarkable man he was and the joy he brought to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Larry’s memory to Kennedy's Disease Association, www.kennedysdisease.org, Mayo Clinic, mayoclinic.org, Light of Christ 9106 Bryant Farm Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277.
