Lance Andrew Wilson

Lance was a fine man who really had an amazing life with more adventures than any one person can dream to have experienced. He was always willing to try anything at least once which resulted in many great stories to tell! From the time he lived in Reno, NV as a young boy, he developed a passion for fast boats that evolved into even faster cars as he got older. Lance was a proud Eagle Scout which helped make him a great handyman plus just a fabulous all-around person. He retired from the Navy where he spent much of his time stationed in Hawaii, a place he loved dearly and thankfully got to return to before he passed away. He fervently cheered on the Atlanta Braves but even more so the Pittsburgh Steelers and was fortunate to have gone to many games to see both of his beloved teams. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to live music and his last concert was Garth Brooks, an event that he thoroughly enjoyed. He was the absolute best travel companion who had fun no matter what and was the most fantastic dance/life partner you could ever hope to have.

Through Lance’s hard-fought battle with cirrhosis, he was a great patient and was consistently so positive that he had lots of life left to live, literally making sarcastic jokes right up until the day that he died. Lance’s renewed faith truly brought him great strength as well as comfort in the later years of his life, he was a firm believer in the power of prayer. He adored his church and the tremendous amount of loving support received from everyone at Matthews - UMC is a priceless blessing. We should all be grateful that we got to be a part of his wonderful life; we can all be comforted knowing that he is finally out of pain and is now with Jesus. Lance's death has left a very large void in the lives of all his family and friends that they say only time can heal... He will be missed tremendously but remember him often and fondly, that is how he, his infectious laugh, and his beautiful soul will live on in each of our hearts.

Lance is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Linda Wilson.

Lance is survived by his devoted wife, Suzanne Wilson; his daughters, Emily Wilson, Sophia Wilson; his step-daughter, Sarah Cram; and his sister Andrea Carlton (Edwin).

Lance’s funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday September 24, 2022 at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S Trade St Matthews, NC. A visitation will follow the service at 3:00 PM in the church’s Commons.
