Kenneth was born in Honolulu, Hawaii as his father was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was seven years old when Pearl Harbor was bombed. His family was evacuated to the states and eventually they permanently located back to their native North Carolina. The Whites resided for many years in Long Creek, a small community of current day Huntersville. Ken attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he majored in Chemistry and met his future wife, Patricia Jane Warlick. He served as a lieutenant in the US Navy, completed his Masters and EDS degrees both in science fields and sought to make a difference in children's lives by teaching school in Statesville, NC for thirty plus years. His 2nd career began at retirement. His true love was being a "gentleman" farmer. He and Mom lovingly restored the McClelland Davis Plantation house on the state historic registry. He found the most happiness restoring this home, gardening and caring for his assortment of animals that included peacocks, goats, guineas, chickens, turkeys, horses, cows, pet raccoons and even a pet possum. Patricia was the love of his life. Their loved was observed and envied by many. They were an amazing example of marriage, love and commitment. He will be so missed.
Services for Kenneth White will be on Thursday, December 5th at 3:00 pm at Providence Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests honorary donations to the Salvation Army.
