June Keesler Lackey

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 with interment to follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

June was born May 16, 1926, in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late David Kenneth and Sadie Keesler. She worked for nearly 40 years at Mitchum Potato Chips and was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, spoiling her grandchildren, cooking for her family and most of all she enjoyed a good laugh.

In addition to her parents June was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Monroe Keesler and his wife Reva and her very dear friend whom she considered her brother, Hugh Oliver Wentz, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Henry Howard Lackey, Jr. of Harrisburg, David Eugene Lackey of Kings Mountain, Timothy Wayne Lackey and his wife Libby of Monroe; sisters, Lillian Chance and Peggy Keesler both of Charlotte; grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Lackey, Kaitlyn Lackey, Ashton Lackey, Austin Lackey and great grandchild, Tyler Shields. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care for their care and compassion given to June and her family.
