Josh was born in Hackettstown, NJ on July 25, 1992. He is the second born child of Pat and Marie Eyer, and brother to Katherine, Emily, and Christopher.
His commitment to service began in high school when he joined JROTC. After graduating, he joined the North Carolina Army National Guard in 2012.
Joshua served for 12 years, including two deployments to Afghanistan (2013-2014) and Kuwait (2019-2020).
He graduated from Pfeiffer University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2017 and joined CMPD in 2017 where he served for six years.
Joshua met his wife, Ashley, in 2014 through his roommate overseas. They married in 2017, and then welcomed their son, Andrew Brian Eyer, in the Summer of 2021.
In his free time, his hobbies included playing with Andrew, collecting Star Wars Lego sets, and eating meats and sweets.
Josh loved deeply and sacrificed daily to be the best for his family. He lived a life of integrity and honor.
Mourning Josh's passing are his wife, Ashley, son, Andrew, his parents, Christopher Patrick and Marie Kerwin Eyer, his sisters, Katherine Eyer Victor and Emily Ciucevich, his brother, Christopher Eyer, his brother-in-laws, Robert Victor and Aaron Ciucevich, mother-in-law, Kelly King, sister-in-law, Cloe King, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, the CMPD families, the NC Army National Guard, close friends, the city of Charlotte; and those across the country and beyond who are inspired by Joshua's selflessness and bravery.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Patricia Eyer and Robert and Isabel Kerwin.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Charlotte, 301 South Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Following the service, Josh will be laid to rest with honors at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212.
