Charlotte, NC – Joseph "Joe" Rosso, aged 81, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023. Born on December 19, 1941, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Rosso and Barbara Alba Rosso, and the devoted husband of the late Jean Sharpe Rosso, whom he was married to for 39 years.
Joseph Rosso's life was marked by service and a deep commitment to family and community. He was a cherished son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and devoted family man. A proud Navy veteran, Joe's stories of his service were a testament to his love for his country and family.
Growing up in Buffalo, NY, and later in Kinston, NC, Joe, alongside his twin brother Peter, attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and embarked on a number of adventures together. His older brother, Russell inspired him with coin collecting, a hobby that paralleled their shared service stories. He very much loved visiting and speaking with all of his family, especially during the holidays and annual family get-togethers.
Post-Navy, Joe graduated from the University of NC at Chapel Hill and moved to Charlotte in 1977, where he and his wife and children made their home. There, he embarked on a successful career spanning over 20 years in engineering sales. A passionate problem-solver, he enjoyed repairing computers and TVs, often extending his expertise to neighbors, community, and service members.
Joe's enthusiasm for activities and helping others continued throughout his life. He was a beloved Cub Scout leader and little league baseball coach, deeply invested in nurturing young minds.
Joseph leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his sisters, Donna Stokes and her husband Parker, Diane Whitehurst and her husband Al; his sister-in-law, Delois S. Hunter; brother-in-law, Carroll A. Spencer; his children, Jennifer Venter and her husband Behan, Joseph Christopher Rosso, Michael Rosso; family member Lori Pope Rosso; his beloved granddaughter, Lucy Jean Rosso; as well as many nephews and nieces whom he loved very much as well. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
