Mr. Lane, 95, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on May 17, 2012. John was born January 28, 1917 in Monticello, GA to Bernice Malone and William Augustus Lane, and had seven older brothers and sisters: Maurice, Albert, Katherine, Virginia, Bernice ,Augustus, and Richard.
John is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Helen Timmerman Lane; four children, Susanne Wellford and her husband Harrison, Carole Outwater and her husband Fisk, John Lane and his wife Sandra, and Margaret Ramos and her husband Ray.
In addition, he had seven grandchildren; Susannah Shakow, Elizabeth Baer, David Outwater, Kristin Gotta, Jennifer Hatley, Shannon Deitz, Michael, Katie, and Emily Ramos, and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at the graveside in the family plot in Monticello, Ga.
