John “Curtis” Johnson, 83, of Mint Hill, passed away April 30, 2012. Curtis was born on February 8, 1929 to Lex and Lola Johnson in Anson County, NC. A veteran of the Navy, Curtis spent time on an aircraft carrier as an airplane mechanic. He spent his working career with Ralston Purina as a Quality Control Manager. Curtis had a passion for golf, was a great handyman, enjoyed working in his garden, and mostly, spending time with family.
Curtis was the youngest and the last surviving of 7 children. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Thomas Johnson; sons: Tony C. (Jane) and Michael Johnson; grandchildren: John Adam Johnson and Natalie (Chad) Broadway; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Curtis will always be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather.
Family will receive friends Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2102 at 12:00pm at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
