Joe Porter Jr.

Firmin Joseph “Joe” Porter Jr. passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015. He was born in Western Maryland on August 22, 1942 to the late Gladys Marie Miller Porter and Firmin Joseph Porter Sr., grew up in Richmond, Virginia, and later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at the age of 13. Joe graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School and served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He spent his life working in the plastics industry including owning his own company and the last 31 years at Plastic Products Inc. In his spare time, Joe loved to travel and do photography. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William A. Porter. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Beverly Porter; daughter, Cherie Cassells and husband Chad; granddaughters, Briley and Mylee Cassells; sister, Carol Ann Woodell; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A Funeral Service to celebrate Joe’s life will be conducted at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service in Evergreen City Cemetery, Charlotte NC.
